The Delusion of Invulnerability. G.E.R. Lloyd

This book continues Lloyd's series of studies comparing ancient Greek and Chinese cultures and deriving lessons for the modern West. This work belongs to the publisher's series ‘Classical Inter/faces’, which focuses on intercultural perspectives on contemporary issues.

The first three chapters explore the intellectual elite that defined society's ideals: how they were chosen and applied. The remaining chapters examine the pursuit of security (“invulnerability”), justice, and happiness.
