There are many stories about the uninhabited Night House. When 14-year-old Richard moves in with his relatives on the outskirts of the small town of Belentaine, he learns the exciting stories. One autumn evening, Richard and his friend Tom call the Night House from a phone booth. Afterwards, no one believes Richard when he says that Tom was eaten by the phone receiver.
Richard persuades another schoolmate to help him find out what is going on in the Night House, but this boy also disappears, and the
already lonely Richard is left all alone. Only Karen, the popular rebel in his class, who he is in love with, believes him.
"The Night House" is a novel about loneliness, courage, evil, friendship, destruction and hope.
About what we can and cannot see.
It is a story about the dark house in the even darker forest.
