Set of 6 tablespoons and 5 dessert spoons in baroque/rococo stylized ornament with embossed scrolls and an oval field in the center for engravings - initials. Original gift box. Inside, pink satin and brown ribbed velvet. This design was very popular for wedding gifts, anniversaries, christenings, representative sets. Specifically, this set was a wedding gift to my grandparents. On the back of the tablespoons is engraved RG MET, on the dessert spoons ALP LIEPAJA.
* RG MET means silver-plated metal - melchior (nickel silver -
the most commonly used alloy for Soviet silver-plated tableware) covered with a thin layer of silver
* ALP LIEPAJA - produced in Liepaja
* The thickness of the silver coating for such sets is usually around 8–10 microns
* Period: early 1960s or earlier (judging by the grandparents' wedding year)
