Aristotle (384 - 311 BC) lived only 62 years in this world, yet fate granted him a posthumous life lasting thousands of years - his texts have become the foundation for the later development of Western humanistic thought.

In Latvian, Aristotle's "Poetics" is being published for the third time, with the last publication being in 1959. This edition differs from the previous ones, which have become bibliographic rarities, in that the translation by Augusts Ģiezens has been revised by ancient Greek language specialists Ināra Ķemere and Ojārs Lāms.

In the new edition, Aristotle's terms have been clarified in Latvian, and the Latvian language has been modernized. In addition to the main text, the book includes comprehensive explanations of information added in the last 50 years, an index of persons mentioned in the work, and key literary concepts, as well as an extensive introduction by Ojārs Lāms.
