The book by the Latvian Ornithological Society, "Latvian Breeding Bird Atlases 1980–2017. Bird Numbers, Distribution, and Their Changes," is a publication that compiles information on all more than 220 bird species breeding in Latvia and their changes in numbers and distribution over 512 pages. It is considered the most comprehensive and informative publication on birds in Latvia in recent decades. The authors of the book are Viesturs Ķerus, Andris Dekants, Ainārs Auniņš, and Ieva Mārdega, but the information compiled in it is based on data collected over many years by several hundred members of the Latvian Ornithological Society and other bird experts. Each book spread dedicated to a bird species is also illustrated with photographs of the bird itself and its typical nesting habitat.
