Laura un Māris 1999. gadā satiekas prestižā vidusskolā, piedzīvo pirmo mīlestību un pirmos zilumus, netiekot galā ar visu, ko paši iecerējuši, un atskārstot, ka mīlestība ne tikai rada patvērumu, bet tā var atmodināt kaut ko šausmīgu, kad gribas otram trāpīt tā, lai sāp. Viņi izdzīvos. Viņi slēps savus zilumus un meklēs brīžus, kuros satikties. Apjukušajā pasaulē viņus vadīs nevis pieaugušā atbalsts, bet izdzīvošanas instinkts un nezūdoša cerība, ka tūlīt paliks labāk.

Iveta Troalika dzimusi 1983. gadā, un arī viņas vēlīnie pusaudzes gadi aizvadīti gadsimtu mijā. Iveta beigusi Latvijas Universitātes Filozofijas fakultāti un jau gandrīz 20 gadus ir žurnāliste. “Tūlīt paliks labāk” ir viņas pirmais romāns.

In June 2022, the Dzintars Sodums Award was granted to writer Iveta Troalika for the novel "It Will Get Better Soon," published in 2021.

Riga, the year 2000. A generation that has experienced the turn of the century and is trying to adapt to ever-changing circumstances, where even their parents and advisors feel lost. Hierarchies are collapsing and disintegrating, and new ones are forming. Everything is in our own hands, and the world must be made better right now! – it is a great freedom and also a huge responsibility when you are somewhere in between a teenager and an adult.

Laura and Māris meet at a prestigious high school in 1999, experience their first love and first bruises, struggling to cope with everything they have planned themselves, and realizing that love not only provides shelter but can awaken something terrible when you want to hit the other so that it hurts. Wait and endure until it gets better, or make decisions and not let oneself be hurt. If you are so thirsty for love and recognition, does the risk that someone bolder and perhaps more ruthless will make decisions for you pay off? What to do if there is no one to help deal with excessive sensitivity, but everyone will have time to say "you can do it all!"?

They will survive. They will hide their bruises and seek moments to meet. In the confused world, they will be guided not by adult support, but by the survival instinct and an enduring hope that it will get better soon.

Iveta Troalika was born in 1983, and her late teenage years were also spent at the turn of the century. Iveta graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Latvia and has been a journalist for almost 20 years. "It Will Get Better Soon" is her first novel.
