Legend: associated with the pattern is an English romantic legend about lovers Chang and Kwansé, who were turned into two loving doves by the gods, flying together forever – this bird motif symbolizes legendary love.

The legendary pattern was created in England at the end of the 18th century, associated with the potter Thomas Minton, who first combined Chinese landscape motifs into one decoration. The design quickly gained popularity in the Victorian era and became one of the most recognizable Western ceramic ornaments.
