💫The porcelain factory Hutschenreuther is one of the most famous German porcelain brands, with a history dating back to the early 19th century in Bavaria. Its history is interesting because there were two competing family factories for a long time, which merged only after more than 100 years.

💫The company was founded by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther in 1814 in Hohenberg near Eger. He was a porcelain painter who discovered valuable kaolin (porcelain clay) deposits and, after years of struggles with the state monopoly, finally obtained permission to establish a private factory.

💫It was only in 1969 that the two family-controlled factories (Hohenberg and Selb) merged into one joint-stock company — Hutschenreuther AG. During this time, the company became one of the largest porcelain manufacturers in Europe, also taking over other smaller factories (such as Tirschenreuth).

💫After financial difficulties and restructuring in 2000, the Hutschenreuther brand was taken over by another German porcelain giant — Rosenthal. Today, Hutschenreuther continues to exist as part of the Rosenthal group, maintaining its classic style and famous lion emblem.
