Edgars Šēnbergs was born on March 31, 1923, in Cīrava Parish. Graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Latvia. Department of Architecture (1952). Worked at the Teploelektroprojekt institute (1954–60) and the Jūrmala branch of the Komunālprojekts institute (1969–83). Most significant projects: Ogre stage (1968), Brothers' Cemetery memorial ensemble in Vietalva (together with sculptors Z. Zvārs and V. Altbergs, 1968), the Daile exhibition complex in Dzintari (1976), the reconstruction of the N. Draudziņa Gymnasium building in Riga (1979), and the International Seamen's Club in Riga (1987). He has researched ancient place names in Latvia and Northern Europe, the Selian language, and Scandinavian mythology. Author of nine books. He has written the book Sensorum, in which he expresses his thoughts on the ancient history and origins of the Latvians, as well as attempting to explain place names and their linguistic connection to various periods of history.
