Immediately after the start of inhalation, the top of the canister should be pressed down, spraying the dose of medication. At the same time, a steady and deep inhalation should be continued, after which the breath should be held.” Children and elderly people usually cannot properly coordinate exhalation, inhalation, medication spraying, and breath holding, resulting in the sprayed aerosol not reaching the lungs and the therapy becoming ineffective. The holding chamber facilitates and simplifies the inhalation procedure and can be performed by patients of any age.
