Antique (1890-1900) double-sided French pendant, depicting Our Lady of Mount Carmel Virgin Mary with the infant and scapulars on one side, and Jesus Christ on the other.
There is an ancient tradition of the so-called "scapular promise" — that Mary will assist in the salvation of those who wear it with true faith. The Madonna with scapulars refers to depictions of the Blessed Virgin Mary — often as Our Lady of Mount Carmel — where she holds or presents the brown scapular. It symbolizes her protection,
maternal care, and promise of salvation to those faithful to her. The scapular is a sacramental consisting of two small pieces of wool worn on the front and back over the shoulders.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus conveys God's love to people. The medallion is hollow in the middle, oval, with well-preserved fine relief, handcrafted from 14K /585 gold. ~ 1.6 g, 2.5 cm measured with the loop, has several hallmarks, tested, and also has an antique beetle hallmark partially readable, which was once popular in Europe.
Condition is very good, with slight signs of age. No cracks or dents in the pendant, no significant wear or deformation. A rare and collectible item with historical and religious significance.
