Matvey Kuznetsov established one of Russia’s largest porcelain empires in the late 19th to early 20th century, acquiring multiple factories and producing mass-market blue-and-white ceramics, including animal figurines, often in styles similar to but distinct from Gzhel. His products featured “MK” initials (Cyrillic МК for Матвей Кузнецов) painted or stamped on the base, matching the hand-painted mark visible on the piece.
