The item was purchased in England, so it requires a plug adapter. These are probably available for purchase, but if needed, I will provide one of my adapters. I turned it on, checked it, and everything works great. The battery will be charged. It can also be used outside the home, as it works not only with a plug but also on battery. The box will not include the pacifier that originally came with the set. I always poured the bottle's contents into another milk bottle, as we didn't use this brand's bottles for milk, so the bottle nipples have never been used.
