Gray Rider, Red Rider, Black Rider

Aleksandra Grīna trilogy "The Grey Rider", "The Red Rider", "The Black Rider" (1938–1940) is part of the cycle "The Betrothed", depicting the history of Latvia and Europe during the era of Peter I, when Russia "cuts a window to Europe". The novels intertwine historical intrigues, war events, and personal dramas - from the fate of Latvian peasant Kraukļi Jānis to a love story with Marta, the future Russian Empress Catherine I. The works vividly portray the conflicts of the era of Charles XII, Augustus II, and Peter I.
